Rationalization of nitrogen fertilizer use in tea production
1996
Owuor, P.O. | Wanyoko, J.K.
Application of appropriate (for yield and quality) quantities of nitrogenous fertilizer produces lower quality black tea, increases soil acidity, causes nutrients imbalance in the soil by inducing availability of higg amounts of aluminum and manganese; while reducing the levels of the cations (potassium, magnesium, calcium, sodium, etc) in the soil. This imbalance of soil nutrients csn hinder economic crop production and make soils unsuitable for future use
