The effect of various levels of nitrogen and spacing on the yield and growth of potato were studied at Horticulture Farm, NWFP Agricultural University Peshawar during 1990-91. Nitrogen doses applied to the field were 111.15, 148.2, 222.3 and 259.35 kg pe hectare with one control. Seventy four Kg phosphorous was applied as basal dose. The tubers were sown at 15,20 and 25 cm plant to plant distance. All the treatments were significantly effective than the control for all parameters. Nitrogen dose 259.35 kg per hectare showed better result on tubers per plant (7.15 cm), tubers weight per plant (472.83 gm) and tubers weight per hectare (16885.96 kg). Twenty five centimeters plant 0 plant distance showed better result on number of tubers (10.17), tubers diameter (6.37 cm) and tubers weight per plant (442.20 gm) while the spacing 15 cm showed significant effect on weight of tubers per hectare (14473.68 kg).
