An investigation was conducted to determine the influence of different nitrogen levels on the growth and yield of rape during winter 1986-88. Six levels viz; control, 30, 60, 90,120 and 150 Kg per hectare were tested. Nitrogen level upto 120 kg per hectare progressively increased the seed yield, mainly due to increase in number of pods per plant and seeds per pod. The plant height and number of branches per plant were also improved, but further addition of nitrogen had reverse effect. It is suggested that for obtaining better seed yield in rape, 120 Kg N per hectare should be applied.
