The yield and growth of chickpea cultivar (C-44) was compared on a sandy loam soil under Thal conditions at different fertility levels of N, P and also Rhizobium inoculum. The crop was sown in the first week of November. Chickpea produced significantly higher nodule dry weight/plant (148.7 mg) when inoculated with Rhizobium strain (Thal-8). Filled pods/plant, grain yield/plant, biological yield and grain yield kg/ha was significantly affected by the N,P fertilizers and Rhizobium inoculation treatment under study. Maximum grain yield of chickpea (2337 Kg/ha) was obtained when crop was fertilized at the rate of 20 kg N + 50 kg P2O5. However, germination count/unit area, plant height, primary branches/plant, empty pods/plant and harvest index was not affected significantly.
