Yield loss due to pest in the form of count data such as number of damaged tillers per hill in rice or number of plants damaged per unit area may follow anyone of the following probability distribution models: the binomial, the Poisson or the Pascal. Estimation of the parameters of these distribution models using the method of maximum likelihood and the Bayes procedure was the main focus of this paper. Comparison of two estimators was made on the basis of relative efficiency and mean squared error criteria
