Effect of nitrogenous fertilization and early defoliation on zinc and boron contents in potato tubers
1996
Gasior, J. (Krakow Agricultural University, Rzeszow (Poland). Branch of University)
Contents of zinc and boron were rather high and were rather dependent upon weather and soil conditions. The zinc content underwent particular changes and it was equal to 21.29; 20.37 and 10.94 mg/kg dJ mass in consecutive years of experiments. An early plant defoliation resulted in an increase of average zinc content from 15.82 to 19.25 mg/kg and a decrease of boron content from 7.43 to 5.58 mg/kg. An increase of nitrogen dose from 50 to 150 kg N/ha caused an yield increase, but the dose of 200 kg N/ha resulted in its distinct decrease. The boron content decreased regularly as nitrogen dose increased and reached its highest level when nitrogen dose was 200 kg N/ha. Zinc content increased at a nitrogen dose of 50 and 200 kg N/ha
