Technique of row potato fertilization and its agrotechnical effects
1997
Jablonski, K. (Instytut Ziemniaka, Bonin (Poland))
Broadcast (traditional) and row fertilization of potato plants were compared in field experiments. Nitrogen (carbamide) and multi-component fertilizers were used. Row fertilization increased potato yields by 8.4-13.0% at significantly higher starch content in the tubers. Even high rates of N fertilizing did not affect the content of harmful N compounds in potatoes. At row fertilizing with carbamide its location on both sides of planted potatoes was of advantage whereas the complex NPK fertilizing was sufficiently effective at placing fertilizers either on both sides and under seed potatoes
