Factors affecting nitrate cumulation in plants connected with the systems and techniques of fertilizer application were reviewed. Nitrogen doses and their distribution in growing period are of great importance. Proper application of N fertilizers, also in the systems of multielement fertilizing, enables to reduce the nitrate accumulation in crops. Considerable range of liquid fertilizers for ground or foliar application gives new possibilities of nitrate content limitation in plants. Apart from precise dosage of nitrogen at liquid fertilizing, the combination with Mg and some microelements stimulating nitrate reduction in plants is also possible
