Biological traits of Arrhenatherum elatius and Lolium perenne such as emergence and tillering rate, above-ground and root biomass development, vertical distribution of above-ground biomass in yield and remaining ability after reseeding were studied in pot and field experiments, using pure species and their mixture for spring and late-summer sowing. The results confirmed usability of both species for reseeding moderately dry meadows because of fast growth and development after seeding. A. elatius showed better remain ability in following years than L. perenne. Spring reseeding ensured better biomass development than late-summer. Role of soil moisture content was emphasized
