Romanian agriculture, new trade agreements and European integration: achievements and prospects
1995
Dinuta, D.
During the post-Communist period, Romanian has passed through several stages of development in the establishment of a market economy, the main target being integration into European economic structures. The new trade agreements - the Association Agreement and the Uruguay Round Agreement - have brought new dimensions to Romanian agriculture, representing the juridical support of the future development of this sector and the alignment with the European and International economic standards. The new approach of European integration, with the next future enlargement of the European Union to Eastern Europe, contains advantages and disadvantages for both sides. For the policy-makers, there are new problems to be solved, in order to meet all the requirements of the biggest economic block and the most advanced of integration in the world. The reform process of the Romanian agricultural sector will continue and will speeded up, in order to make the accession to the European Union properly and more effective
