Effect of feeding level of primiparous lactating sows on productive performances

Balan, L. (S.C. ROMSUINTEST S.A., Peris (Romania))
The experiment organised at Romsuintest Peris S.A. determined on a total number of 180 gilts belonging to LW, L and LS 345 Peris the effects of two levels of dietary protein (14.5 and 16.5 per cent CP) on the reproductive performances of lactating primiparous. The results were interpreted in correlation with the allocated diet in two gestation periods (2.2-2.6 and 2.6-3.0 Kg compound feeds) and they have shown that weight loses and fat reserves in lactating period were affected by the diet, the differences being significant for gilts under 105 Kg at mating. The weight losses were 21.0-24.0 Kg instead of 11.7-14.5 Kg and the backfat thickness was reduced with 6.5-6.8 mm instead of 5.8-6.5 mm for 14.5 per cent and respectively 16.5 per cent dietary protein. The milking capacity was significantly affected (p or equal to 0.05) by the improved dietary protein and energy (37.7-39 instead of 34.33-35.7 Kg). The daily voluntary intake in lactation increased from 3.9 to 4.36 Kg per primiparous with the decreasing feeding level in gestation, but has not met the proteic and energy requirements for lactating period.
