Slaughtering properties of Swedish landrace

Considering Swedish Landrace importance for pigbreeding in Croatia this paper points to its meatiness properties. The research was carried out on carcasses of pigs (n=20) fattened from body weight of 25 to 105 kg. Right pig carcasses were dissected according to WENIGER et al. method (1963). Swedish Landrace carcasses with body weight of 105 kg contain 56.49% of muscle tissue. Carcass conformation is specific in Croatia. Especially back part is a result of selection on a larger trunk length and larger number of teats. Muscle tissue quality is normal.
