The dynamism of the natural mixed forest in the Sitno Nature Preserve (Slovak Republic)

Observations carried out over the past 10 years have shown that the mixed broadleaf natural forest (8 species) in the third oak and beech altitudinal zone is characterized by considerable steady structure, wood yield and characteristic small-scale texture of forest. The wide-scale spectrum of species differing in ecology, growth and vitality in different development stages is relatively flexible in their mutual complementarity and substitutability. This caused a small variation in the growing and the circular plot base. The number of individuals of compact woods differs widely depending on developmental stages.
