Soil fertility parameters of Orthic Luvisol and their changes under two farming systems (conventional A - using fertilizers and farmyard manure and alternative B - using farmyard manure only) and two ways of soil cultivation (conventional K - tillage to a depth at 0.24 m and minimalized M - tillage to a depth 0.15 m) were studied. Tested Orthic Luvisol had some limitations (unfavourable state of soil structure, subsoil compaction, low content of humus of bad quality, acid soil reaction) reducing its production and reproduction process. Over 1991-1993 some changes in the quantity of oxidizable carbon and total nitrogen, quality of humus, chemical state and physical properties of tested soil (volume density, total porosity, structural composition, moisture) were observed. More favourable parameters were found in the B-farming system, mainly at the depth at 0.0-0.3 m.
