In maturing Japanese quails of line 01 (42-63 days) the evolution of testimetric characteristics was studied. A rapid increase of testes weight was observed during maturation. The left testicle portion of total testes weight was mildly over half (50.90 - 52.65 %). The portion of testes weight out of total body weight increased (0.89-3.16 %) during maturation. A strong positive phenotypic correlation was calculated between left and right testicle weights in all tested seasons (+0.863 and +0.637 resp.). The other calculated correlations are in individual seasons variable or negligible. Production of spermatozoa depends on testes weight. The testes that do not contain spermatozoa reached an average weight of 0.63 g (0.43-0.82 g).
