Investigation on dairy cattle feeding and management in the areas of the dairy farming promotion organization of Thailand

Study was conducted by divided questionnaire into 2 sets. The first one is employed for collection on number of farm, milk quality and yield from the area office. Another is prepared for investigating on farm feeding and management. Two hundred and thirty three out of 4,562 dairy farms in middle, south and north areas were randomly selected for investigation. DPO produced average 184 tons/day in 1990. Milk yield was average 9.85 kg/day/cow. Milking cow was 6.84 heads/farm. Income was 172 bahts. Farm milk cost/kg was 4.46 bahts. A.I. Index was 2.49 and Conception rate was 42.9 %. In conclusion, the essential problem that the farmer must solve urgently is how to improve the feeding and milking management in order to decrease production cost and increase production efficiency.
