The investigations revealed that both the kind and the development stage of the sugar beet have an influence on the amount of microorganisms. Important positive and negative correlations have been ascertained between sugar beet quality, yield and microorganisms. Most significant correlations have been established with the Alvita, KWS 9002 and Sirius cultivars. These investigations about the influence of bacteria on the yield and quality of sugar beet lasted one year only, and hence the results have to be considered as tentative.
