Dynamics of yield and quality formation in spring forage pea (Pisum sativum L.)
1997
Cupina, B.
A field trial was conducted during 1991, 1992 and 1993 in order to study the dynamics of the formation of yield and quality in spring forage pea. The study included seven morphologically distinct spring pea genotypes and covered the following six stages of plant growth and development: budding, flowering, pod formation, milk grain maturity, wax grain maturity, and full grain maturity. The parameters monitored were as follows: dry matter yield, contribution of various plant parts, leaf area index (LAI), plant number, harvest index, grain yield and quality, straw yield and quality, and some indicators of quality (raw protein content, mineral elements content, chlorophyll content, carotene content, energy value, and sugar content).
