Comparative studies on varieties of Vranac, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc in the area of Podgorica [Montenegro, Yugoslavia]

The beginning and lasting of phenophase of development - beginning of bud burst and beginning of flowering of varieties of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, performed two days earlier than those in variety of Vranac. While beginning of grape ripening and grape mature of Vranac performed earlier than those of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. The difference in average grape yield between Vranac and Cabernet Franc was not significant. The greatest grape yield per vine was obtained in Vranac variety, and it was significantly higher than in Cabernet Sauvignon, while the difference in average yield between Vranac and Cabernet Franc was not significant. The differences in sugar content in the must among varieties were not significant. Average content of acids in the must was the biggest in Cabernet Franc, while content of acids of varieties Vranac and Cabernet Sauvignon was equal approximately. The best quality of wine, as well as the highest evaluation of probe were obtained for Vranac variety, then follows Cabernet Sauvignon.
