Strategic questions of Hungary's joining the European Union

From the events of the recent past, the conclusion can be drawn that there are real chances for Hungary to join the European Union. The filling up of the "questionnaire" taken over at Brussels, which means the start of our joining EU, has begun: the organs of the Hungarian government do their best for preparing the document, on the basis of which concrete negotiations will start. The paper analyses the present situation and the future possibilities of integration, with a special emphasis on the questions of agricultural policy. Advantages and disadvantages arising from Hungary's membership, and factors motivating EU to accept her, are discussed as well. The date of obtaining full membership is outlined, along with recommendations concerning the aspects (especially agricultural ones) to be considered and the behaviour to be followed during the negotiations
