Fedulov, Y. (Lukyanenko research Institute of Agriculture, Krasnodar (Russia). Plant Physiology Department)
The potential of the delayed chlorophyll fluorescence technique in predicting genotypic frost resistance of winter wheat was assessed by registration the temperature dependence of delayed fluorescence (DF). DF intensity at the temperature 2-3 degree C lower than the temperature of the DF low-temperature maximum in frost resistant variety had a high correlation coefficient with plant survival after controlled freezing. The method was rapid and could be used as a tool for preliminary frost resistance estimation of winter cereals
