Distribution of vitamin E in liver of different age of pigs
1997
Mezes, M. (Godolloi Agrartud. Egyet., Godollo (Hungary))
The author investigated the vitamin E content of different lobes of the liver in 6th, 12th and 24th month old female and castrated male pigs. It was found that the differences among the different lobes of the liver were not statistically significant at the different times of sampling. Significant (P0.05) difference between the two sexes was found at the 24th month of age. The vitamin E content of all lobes decreased between 6th and 12th month of age in the case of females (P0.01) while only in two particular lobes (lobus dexter medialis et lateralis) in the case of castrated males (P0.01). The background of these changes would be the different sexual endocrinological status of the animals. The results of the present study call attention to the importance of sampling technique for accurate detection of the vitamin E status of animals
