[The epizootic situation of farm animals coccidiosis in Latvia]

Distribution of coccidiosis in different districts of Latvia as well as the infection of this disease in different farm animals were investigated in the period of 1965-1996. Infected pigs, cattle and sheep were found in almost all the inspected districts. Infected horses were found only on two farms. Some cases of death were recorded in kids in the prepatental period of the disease. As in the latest years the occurence of coccidiosis infection in farm animals has increased, further investigations are necessary to develop prophylactic measures for a successful control of the disease.
