The transformation of multiappartment block housing visual image in rural environment

The article deals with the social and environmental transformations in the countryside of Latvia during the period of 1990-1996. Statistical data about rural housing resources are pointed out and analysed. The research methods of the problem are shown on the example of the rural community Allazi. The survey about the emotional and alsthetioc potential of the community carried out among its inhabitants as well as the analysis of the obtained data are discussed. Special attention in the survey was paid to the multiappartment block houses. The importance of spatial planning for the revival of the countryside is stressed.
