Economic situation in Lithuania's food processing sector

This paper deals with the recent changes in agro-food production, processing and distribution. The disproportions between the above-mentioned branches caused by the reforms and the development tendencies of the Lithuania's economy in the transition period to the market economy are explained. The problems in the food industry sector such as dynamics of demand, consumption, production and sales in the domestic and foreign markets have been analysed and are discussed. The necessity to adjust economic relations between agro-producers and processing enterprises is emphasized.
