1998
Lasteniece, V. (Latvian Univ. of Agriculture, Jelgava (Latvia). Dept. of Land Planning)
Besides soil fertility the size of farms and planning of the farm land is of great importance for successful agricultural production. With the beginning of the land reform in Latvia in 1990 the problem of farm size became particularly important for the rational use of land. In the given research, farm sizes and farming conditions have been examined in Dobele and Bauska regions. External and internal conditions determining the size of farm as well as the farming aims have been analysed. It has been concluded that the farm size depends on the aim of farming. The farm size analysis in the mentioned regions has shown that the area of the greatest number of farms is in the range of 30-100 ha.
