Infiltration intensity and leaching of various herbicides in lysimeters
1997
Kavoliunaite, I. (Lithuanian Institute of Agriculture, Traku Voke (Lithuania). Voke Branch)
The intensity of infiltration and leaching of herbicides was investigated in lysimeters at the Lithuanian Institute of Agriculture in the period of 1973-1996. Total depth was 1 m, sandy loam soil layer - 0.55 m, area 1.75 square m. Seven herbicides were applied under maize and spring barley. The herbicides are described, the rates and time of their application are analysed. The aim of investigation was to establish the intensity of infiltration and to detect the presence of herbicide, residues in infiltration water. It was found that in filtration intensity was influenced by meteorological conditions. The most intensive infiltration began 6-8 months after herbicide application in spring. The autumn application caused heavier leaching
