A morphological study of inflorescence of male date palm trees (Phoenix dactylifera L.)

Morphological features of inflorescence like number of spathes per tree, number of spathes per whorl, weight and size of spathes, of four seedling male trees of date palm were found different. Moreover, the number of strands per spathe, yield of pollen grains and the percent viability of pollen of each tree and also among the whorls of the same found variable. Out of four trees, one completely and the other was partially male sterile, while the other two were fertile and fit for pollination.
