Amino acid composition of fibroin protein in posterior silkgland of Bombyx mori fed with different types of mulberry leaves were estimated. Results revealed that amino acid composition of mulberry leaves reflected directly on the amino acid compositions of fibroin protein in the posterior silkgland of silkworm larvae. Higher amount of alanine (20.60%), arginine (2.86%), glycine (36.70%), lysine (1.42%), histidine (2.10%), tryptophan (0.55%), tyrosine (5.05%) and valine (1.90%) contents were obtained in the posterior silkgland of Suvra fed with tender leaves, and lower in mature coarse and mixture leaves, which might be due to direct influence of the amino acid composition of tender leaves in the posterior silkgland of Bombyx mori L.
