In order to know the modification of the soil properties when is shifted a forest ecosystem with an agricultural ecosystem, two cambic chernozem profiles were selected. This selection was made so that they may have the morphology, the thickness of horizons and the texture as similar as possible. The differences were noticed in the surface horizon but especially in the plough layer. In the rest of the profile the differences are not significantly and are due to the variation of the parent material properties. From the comparison of the properties of the two profiles, some modifications appear due to the anthropic intervetion: - The drastic decrease of the content of the organic matter and total nitrogen. - The lower decrease of the C/N ratio which shows a higher rezistance of the nitrogen compounds to oxidation than the other organic matter compounds. A lowering of the saturation degree in the plough layer. - A transformation of illite minerals in smectite minerals in the plough layer accompanied by an increase alteration of these minerals as shown by the alteration index IA. - The crystallinity index IB appears to be unaffected when the forest is changed into an agricultural field. - Although the compexity index IC is strongly influenced by the parent material in the plough layer the illite minerals have a complexity higher than in the corresponding horizon of the profile from the forest.
