Production and milk composition were evaluated in 2.5-3.5 year old ewes of Improved Valachian breed (ZV), Lacaune breed (La) and their crosses of the F1 generation, as well as milk production in primiparous females of these genotypes which were mated at the age of 8-11 months. The genotype influenced significantly (P less than 0.001) milk production in both observations. Ewes of the Lacaune breed produced 97.4 l milk till weaning, 157.8 l during the milking period (160 days), and 255.2 l during lactation. This is highly significantly more than the ewes of Improved Valachian breed and their crosses produced. However, the milk fat content was significantly higher in ewes of Improved Valachian breed compared with the Lacaune breed (3.13 % and/or 7.24 %). The crossed primiparous females produced significantly more milk till weaning, during the milking period and during the whole lactation than primiparous females of the Improved Valachian breed
