The effect of vegetation stage during harvest, dry matter content and treatment of fermentation quality were evaluated in silage from lucerne prepared in laboratory conditions. The fermentation quality rose with the proceeding vegetation phase and with increasing dry matter content. Silage prepared from lucerne harvested in very early phase had high proteolysis which was prevented neither by the way of treatment nor by wilting to high content of dry matter. The effect of biological preparations depended on species composition of bacteria of lactic fermentation. When comparing the enzymatic-microbial preparation with the pure microbial one the effect was inexpressive
