Improvement of pumping stations operational regime in channel systems
1996
Halaj, P.
Drainage channel systems of lowland regions are required by controllable regulating elements (pumping stations, sluice gates) in order to function. These elements support the runoff of drainage waters into the recipient as well as improve water management in the territory. Drainage structure design and their operational schedules were based on the simplified theory of steady flow and the assumption of the regular maintenance of channels, but the operational staff and researchers' experiences refer to low effectiveness due to insufficient longitudinal slope of channels and increased channel roughness as well as the schematized operational regime design. The aim of the article is to show the potential of mathematical modelling in the improvement of water management system operation
