1997
Mankovska, B. (Forest Research Inst., Zvolen (Slovak Republic))
This paper reports on concentrations of heavy metals (Cd, Cr, Cu, Fe, Hg, Ni, Pb, V, and Zn) in mosses (Pleurozium schreberi, Hylocomium splendens and Dicranum scoparium) and cover humus from the Slovak area on a 16 x 16 km pan-European grid. Average heavy metal concentration in all moss species is (in mg.kg sup(-1)): 1.3+0.5 Cd, 17+15 Cr, 21+20 Cu, 2459+2735 Fe, 0.2+0.7 Hg, 4.3+5.2 Ni, 31+25 Pb, and 1.9+3.5 V and 62+37 Zn. Average heavy metal concentration in cover humus is (in mg.kg sup(-1)): 1.1+0.5 Cd, 28+35 Cr, 20+10 Cu, 11825+6251 Fe, 0.4+1.5 Hg, 21+11.5 Ni, 61+45 Pb, and 10.5+7.8 V and 108+56 Zn. The content of Cu, Fe, Ni, in all moss species represented an increase and the content of Cd, Pb, Zn represented a decrease in comparison with 1991/1995
