The experiment in post-radiation damage to chickens was carried out at the Clinical Department of the Veterinary University in Kosice (Slovakia) and the experimental gamma field (Faculty of Science, P.J. Safarik University, Kosice). One hundred cross-breed chickens (aged 52 days) were used. The paper deals further with clinical symptoms and histoenzymatic examination of alkaline phosphatase (EC 3.1.3.1.), acid phosphatase (EC 3.1.3.2.), and non-specific esterase (EC 3.1.1.6.) in the microvillous zone, and in enterocytes of the small intestine according to Lojda (1967). The decrease in the activity of these enzymes after irradiation (10th-13th day) was accompanied by serious malfunction of digestion
