The distribution of essential macro- and micronutrients have prevalently toxic effect was studied in the caputulum (receptacle) of six sunflower hybrids. The concentrations of N, P, K, Ca, Mg, Fe, Mn, Cu, Zn, B, Ni, Cd and Pb were determined in seeds from outer, middle and central region of capitulum at physiological maturity. It is evident from the results that the content of the nutrients in the seeds of the studied hybrids was different. The content of micronutrients was more variable than the content of macronutrients. The lowest differences were found in the concentration of N and the highest in the concentration of Pb and Cd. The content of all studied nutrients was the highest in the seeds of outer region of the capitulum, followed by middle and the lowest in the seeds of the central region. The results obtained indicate the existence of the genetic difference with respect to the accumulation of the nutrients in sunflower seeds. However, no significant difference was found with respect to the distribution of the nutrients in the capitulum of the studied hybrids.
