The fertility of pollen and pollination date were studied in five commercial corn hybrids (NS-640, NS-666, NS-663, NS-606, Balkan and their parents). The pollination was accomplished at the beginning of silking, full silking and postsilking period, under condition of free pollination. The yield of corncob was determined with 14 of moisture content. The fertility of pollen was higher for hybrids, and statistically lower for parent lines. Depending on pollination date, i.e. silk development the corncob basis (beginning of silking), the whole corncob (full silking) and corntip (postsilking) were fertilized. The yield of corncob gained according to pollination phases was statistically lower in relation to control (free pollination).
