Estimation of R-factor from daily and monthly rainfall data for western Shewa, Ethiopia

In most cases only daily or monthly rainfall amounts are available for use with erosion models. Methods of estimating rainfall and runoff erosivity factor (R) from daily and daily and montyly rainfall data were assessed and developed for selected stations in Western Shewa. An equation for estimating R factor from daily rainfall was suggested and the values of R were also estimated from long term annual average rainfall data. Problems, which need further investigations, were also indicated. Soil conservation planners and development agents can use the outcome.
