The main aim of the present paper is to describe the life-history of Anthocharis damone and Euchloe ausonia. The living material was collected in Rossano (North Calabria, Italy) where both species occur in the same habitat, using the same host-plant (Isatis tinctoria). Special attention is devoted to the discovery and distribution of A. damone in southern Italy. These data are completed by a report of the results of a trip to Mount Etna where the first author (D.J.) investigated the distribution of Isatis tinctoria and also had the opportunity to observe a number of individuals of the Sicilian form of Zerynthia polyxena. The last section lists other Pierid species that feed on I. tinctoria. A report by L. Russo, who found larvae of ausonia feeding preferentially on Rapistrum rugosum in Apulia, is published for the first time
