Using of artifical lighting in flower greenhouses

The vertical distribution of radiation (PAR), the structure of the light and differences between sodiumlamps (LU400/HO/T/40) in the lily herbage was studied. The results indicate, that the photosynthetically active zone is 35-40 cm from the top of herbage (PAR level not under 50 micromol mE-2 sE-1). The irregularity of the structure of light field to the horizontal direction was observed. The comparison of differences between lamps concerning PAR disclosed considerable differences, even among the lamps of the same age
