The aim of the present study was to determine the most suitable fractional composition of grain and rapeseed for milling as well as palatability of different fractions by cattle. To estimate the mills, the eatability of each meal fraction by dairy cows should also be considered. For this purpose, the dry matter and protein degradability of the different-size fractions of oat, wheat and rapeseed meal in the rumen was studied. A trial was carried out with three rumen fistulated dry cows. The analysis of the trial results showed that the ruminal dry matter and protein degradability of fine fractions of grain meal was faster and more effective than that of coarse fractions. Procuring a mill, it is recommended to keep in mind that the proportion of highly palatable fractions should constitute 80...90 per cent of the total meal, whereas fine fractions are suitable for feeding pigs and coarse fractions for cattle
