A bacterium strain Escerichia coli K-20 of NISKHI (NTSB) 41-95 used for preparation of live vaccine for colibacillosis of sheep bears two mutations each of which initiates reduction of virulence and provides stability of residual virulence. The optimal level of attenuation results in high immunogenicity of the strain in laboratory animals and sheep as well as safety of strain application as a live vaccine. Markers of resistance to antibiotics allow differentiation among strains and cultures of natural origin.
