The Plant Genetics Laboratory of the Institute of Biology, University of Latvia, became last years as a Latvian centre of investigations in plant genetics, which activities are close related to practical plant breeding. Latvian Gene Bank is created in the Plant Genetic Laboratory. Virulence genes of Latvian pathogen population were monitored for last 20 years. Peculiarity of Latvian population and trends of it changes are discovered.
