The study evaluates three varying dosages (625, 1250, and 2500 ppm) of eight pesticides (Cymbush 2.5 EC, Decis 2.8 EC, Folidol M-50, Hostathion 40-EC, Previcur N, Sevin 85, Thiodan 35 EC and Temik 10 G). All pesticides except Thiodan (1250, 2500 ppm) significantly controlled the nematodes but Hostathion at all dosages used was the most consistent and efficient as seen under all parameters used to evaluate nematode damage on tomato var. bonanza. Counts of nematodes present in roots, number of galls formed and rate of fecundity were significantly the lowest, whereas, the control plants had the highest counts of galls, nematodes and egg masses. Temik at 1250 and 2500 ppm ranked second to Hostathion. Futhermore, Hostathion at 2500 ppm greatly increased fresh shoot weight and biomass but not the yield. Previcur (625 ppm)-treated plants increased tomato yield in terms of fruit number and Temik (625 ppm) in terms of fruit weight. Lowest yield was recorded with Cymbus treatment and in the untreated plants. In future integrated control experiments where nematode control is the primary objective Hostathion at 625 ppm is the pesticide recommended for use. If high yield is the target, Previcur at 625 ppm may be utilized as it is also able to control the nematode significantly
