The investigations were carried out to study the efficacy of three insecticides, viz., Karate 2.5 EC (Ambda-Cyhalothrin), Sundafos 50% (W/W (Methamedophos) and Furadon 3 G (Carbofuran) at the rate of 0.98 lit/ha, 1.24 lit/ha and 19.76 kg/ha, respectively, using variety "Neelum" against, Chilo partellus. Observation on the percent infestation, fodder weight, weight of cobs, length of plant and average number of cobs per plant were recorded. The results indicated that application of Sundafos gave relatively better control. It also gave better response with regard to fodder weight, weight of cobs and number of cobs. However karate did not give better results even as compared to that of Furadon which is already in use for maize crop protection against this pest for years.
