The population of aphidiphagous predators were estimated with sweep-net on wheat crop at Tandojam during winter of 1992. The predators encountered were Coccinella septempunctata L., Coccinella undecimpunctata L., Chrysopa sp. and Syrphus sp. Coccinella septempunctata L. was the most predominant predator. Chrysopa sp. and Syrphus sp. were recorded during early stage of the crop whereas Coccinella septempunctata L. and Coccinella undecimpunctata L. were present through the wheat season. Laboratory studies on the efficacy of Coccinella septempunctata L., showed that one adult beetle consumed 87 aphids per day. This shows that Coccinella septempunctata L. is a potential predator to suppress aphid population below economic threshold in wheat agro-ecosystem.
