Different concentrations of ethrel were applied on seed potatoes, variety "Granola", which were stored at different lengths of time. Results showed that the highest mean number of sprouts was observed in potatoes exposed to 4000 ppm. Potatoes exposed to 3500 ppm required the least number of days to reach 80 percent sprouting storing potatoes at different lengths of time before treatment with ethrel revealed significant mean differences. The highest number of sprouts were observed in treated newly-harvested seed potatoes. Ethrel was effective in promoting the production of more sprouts, specifically in newly-harvested potatoes. The longest apical sprouts were observed in potatoes stored for 4 weeks before treatment. In terms of quality of sprouts, potatoes which have been treated just after harvest were observed to produce sprouts of poor quality; better quality of tuber sprouts were produced if the seed potatoes were allowed to be stored for 2 weeks and 4 weeks before these were treated with different ethrel concentrations. Best quality of sprouts, however, were observed in potatoes which were stored for 4 weeks before treatment
