High nitrate concentration in drinking water causes a disease called as blue babies syndrome and is also related to some forms of cancers. High content of nitrate is found in the drinking water of Farm Koruna near Nowshera Kalan in district Nowshera. This pollution is caused by the mixing of animal excreta released by the large number of animals in the nearby government dairy farm.
