A 4 X 4 diallel cross experiment was conducted to study the gene action in some quantitative characters of cotton plants. The height of the main stem, number of bolls per plant, and boll weight were controlled by additive type of gene action with partial dominance without the evidence of non-allelic interaction. Whereas the inheritance of yield of seed cotton was governed by over-dominance type of gene action without the involvement of non-allelic interaction.
