Growth and yielding of new tart cherry cultivars in northern and southern Poland

The suitability of 11 tart cherry varieties was investigated in Polish climatic-soil conditions. The subjected varieties were grafted on mahaleb cherry (Prunus mahaleb L.). The following features were evaluated: vigour, dates of flowering and fruit picking, yield quality and quantity. English Morello appeared to be the most valuable in both regions. Quite worthy was also Granatnaja. Varieties of Hungarian origin were unsuitable of their sensibility to frost and low yielding
